The increasing scale and magnitude of calamities, exacerbated by the country's geographical location and climate change, make highly vulnerable areas more susceptible to severe devastation, loss of life, and livelihood. As such, it is crucial to strengthen the communities' resilience to be able to adapt, bounce back, and recover quickly from the socio-economic impact of disasters.

Operation Listo is an advocacy program of the DILG which aims to strengthen disaster preparedness of LGUs using the whole-of-government approach. Its first component called Listong Pamahalaang Lokal was launched in 2014 which institutionalized local protocols for disaster preparedness, response and monitoring.

The DILG takes an active role in Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) and Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM). This is our mandate per RA 9729 (Climate Change Act) and RA 10121 (DRRM Act) to provide for capacity development programs for CCA and disaster preparedness.
Our efforts lean towards enhancing the capacity of Local Government Units (LGUs) to be at the forefront of the government’s initiative to adapt, mitigate and prepare for climate change and disasters.

DILG spearheads the National Simultaneous Tree Planting activity. The kick-off ceremony was attended by partner agencies, DENR and DA, PNP, BFP, and CSO partners in each of the Municipalities around the Province. This aims to contribute to global reforestation efforts, restoring lost forests, repairing damaged ecosystems, and mitigating climate change.

As a member of the Regional Gawad KALASAG Assessment Team, DILG validates LGUs for the "Gawad KALASAG Seal for Local DRRM Councils and Offices Category" on their compliance to R.A. 10121 and other policies and laws regarding the field of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.

The Kalinga at Inisyatiba para sa Malinis na Bayan (KALINISAN) aims to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe environment in communities across the country. This project enjoins all local government units and citizens to actively participate in regular clean-up drives and consistently practice proper solid waste management practices.
KANALinisan, shall focus on the dredging and clearing of canals, esteros, and other waterways.

Typhoon Enteng made landfall in Casiguran, Aurora, bringing moderate rains and winds in Northern Aurora. In response, LGUs have activated their emergency response plans to mitigate the potential impacts of the storm in accordance with the DILG Operation Listo Protocols.
On August 16, 2024 at Sabang Beach, Baler, Aurora, the DILG Aurora officially launched “Plogging sa Baybayin: Kalusugan ay Unahin, Kapaligiran ay Linisin!”, an Advocacy Campaign fostering healthy lifestyle, clean environment, and a drug-free community.
In the observance of the 2024 National Disaster Resilience Month, SK Officials, youth leaders and DRR personnel from the eight municipalities of Aurora took part in the Wemboree: Disaster Resiliency Youth Camp on July 15-16, 2024 at the Provincial Evacuation Center, ATC Compound, Barangay Calabuanan, Baler, Aurora.
