The development of peaceful, orderly, safe, and secure communities is a vital enabler of long-term and broad prosperity. With the perennial and emerging threats of criminality, illegal drugs, cybercrime, radicalization, and violent extremism, as well as, the occurrence of devastating fires and other critical emergencies, the DILG remains at the forefront of preventing and responding to threats to our collective security and safety.

The ECLIP administers financial assistance packages to Former Rebels, including members of the New People’s Army (NPA) and Militia ng Bayan (MB), who surfaced and wanted to return to the folds of the law and become productive citizens of the society.
All local government units are mandated to establish POCs to ensure and maintain peace and order within their respective areas of jurisdictions, among other concerns.
The DILG has encouraged LGUS to organize their respective ADACs. These multi-sectoral councils are responsible for the formulation of plans, and the implementation of local anti-drug abuse programs, projects, and activities.
The LTIA was established pursuant to Section 406 (b) of the LGC of 1991 which mandates the DILG to grant economic and other incentives to Lupong Tagapamayapa (LT) for their outstanding contributions to attain the objectives of the KP.

The PLEB is a check and balance mechanism that promotes active people's participation and empowers the citizens against abusive and erring policemen, thereby instilling discipline in their ranks. It has the power to hear and adjudicate all citizen's complaints formally filed with, or referred to it, against any uniformed member of the PNP, and if warranted, impose the corresponding penalty.
